Premier League Player of the Season, Bruno Fernandes has revealed he turned down a €200 million deal offered by a Saudi Pro League team last season because he believed his time in Europe was not up.
The Manchester United midfielder stated this during an appearance on the Diary of a CEO podcast.
The Portugal international said he could have accepted the offer and become the richest person ever from his town.
Fernandes, 31, explained that he chose to stay in Europe to chase his dreams and impart the right values to his children.
He said, “Instead of becoming the richest person from my town ever, I want to live my dreams. And I want to pass these values on to my children.
“Look, my wife, she chose to live my dream with me when I was still 17. I have been with her since age 16.
“At age 17 I went to Italy and I earned €1.7k per month. There was a lot of uncertainty. There was nothing guaranteed. My wife had her own life, her own dreams, and she said, ‘I am going to help you, and that’s what she did’.
“Today, we have a beautiful family, with 2 beautiful kids.”
